Özet

Objectives: We aimed to investigate the effects of betamethasone valerate on MDA-MB-231 human breast cancer cells for the first time in the literature. Methods: In the study, it was tried to determine the availability and the cytotoxicity effect of betamethasone valerate in the human breast cancer cell line MDA-MB-231. Cell viability was tested after cell culturing. Survival tests were then performed. Wound healing test was performed in order to measure the migration of the cells. Also colony formation test was carried out to measure the anti-proliferative effect. All values were made as at least 3 repetitions and statistical analyzes were performed with the Graph Pad 4.04 statistical program. Results: According to the results of surveillance experiments, high relative cell death was detected in cells treated with betamethasone valerate. In addition, cell proliferation decreased and wound healing was inhibited by BMV application in the cells. Conclusion: In conclusion, betamethasone has been found to be a potent killer for MDA-MB-231 human breast cancer cells. This may explain the utility of betamethasone valerate in cancer endocrine therapy.
