Since the 7th century, Islamic gardens have been shaped in line with the culture and traditions of various societies and have emerged as a unique garden art depending on the effects of religion, climate, and geography. In the history of garden art, local and regional natural conditions such as soil structure, climate, flora, and ecology in different countries have influenced the development of gardens. Islamic gardens are always seen as a symbol of paradise, as well as daily living space and designed as spaces. The aim of this study is to determine the characteristics of Islamic garden art and its effects on garden culture and to examine Generalife gardens and courtyards within the scope of Islamic gardens of Spain. In the light of the obtained data, gardens, space organizations, structural elements, and plant material used are examined.
