FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS: AN APPLICATION ON THE BIST ELECTRIC GAS AND STEAM INDUSTRY WITH TOPSIS AND MOORA METHODS

Abstract

This study was carried out to measure the financial performance of enterprises operating in the BIST Electricity Gas and Steam Sector. The study created a sample with the financial ratios calculated from the balance sheets and income statements of 8 enterprises between the years 2017-2021. TOPSIS and MOORA were used as methods. By applying two different methods to the sample, it was aimed to obtain robust results through comparison. As a result of the study, the results of the analysis were shown separately according to the TOPSIS and MOORA methods, and the financial performance ranking of the enterprises was carried out. The results of the two analyzes were compared and the findings were evaluated. It is stated that the results of TOPSIS and MOORA methods applied within the scope of the study show significant similarities, but there are also differences in the order of the enterprises.

Bu çalışma, BIST Elektrik Gaz ve Buhar Sektöründe faaliyet gösteren işletmelerin finansal performansının ölçülebilmesi amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışmada 8 işletmenin 2017-2021 yılları arası bilanço ve gelir tablolarından elde edilerek hesaplanan finansal oranları ile örneklem oluşturulmuştur. Yöntem olarak TOPSIS ve MOORA kullanılmıştır. Örnekleme iki farklı yöntem uygulanarak, karşılaştırma yoluyla güçlü sonuçlar elde edebilmesi hedeflenmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda, TOPSIS ve MOORA yöntemine göre ayrı ayrı analiz sonuçları gösterilmiş ve işletmelerin finansal performans sıralaması gerçekleştirilmiştir. İki analiz sonucu karşılaştırılarak, bulgular değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışma kapsamında uygulanan TOPSIS ve MOORA yöntemlerinin sonuçlarının önemli benzerlikler gösterdiği fakat işletme sıralamasında farklılıkların da olduğu bulguları ifade edilmiştir.
