dc.description.abstractThe disposal of tremendous amounts of untreated industrial dye-containing wastewater coming from various industries such as textile, cosmetic, food, paints, plastics and leather industries into the environment causes a dangerous issue which is tackled urgently. Because industrial dyes are carcinogenic, mutagenic, allergenic, and toxic, they pose hazardous threat for living systems. One of the most effective routes to the elimination of dyes from is adsorption process. In this study macrolaga Vallisneria Spiralis has been used as an candidate adsorbent for the removal of Congo Red. The adsorbents were produced by different methods to investigate in detail into the removal effect of the dye Congo Red. All the batch biosorption experiments were conducted on the adsorbents produced. The experimental factors which effects the biosorption process were studied thoroughly. The biosorption mechanism and interaction between the adsorbent and the dye were explained correctly by Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). Furthermore, biosorption kinetic models such as Psedo first and seoxnd, intraparticle and Elovich and isotherm models like Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin, and Sips were studied. As a result of experimental, kinetics and isotherm studies, Vallisneria Spiralis turn out to be an excellent adsorbent.en_US
