The Problem of the Historicity and the Universality of the Verse Ordering Beautiful Dressing When Entering the Mosque

Abstract

The Companions asked the Prophet about the issues they did not understand in the Quran, in the time of the Prophet. However, understanding the Quran has become a problem since the death of the Prophet. In this context, the thought that paying attention to reflecting the meaning of the verse in the period of its occurrence will explain the verse better has come to the fore. Beyond this, it was thought that some verses should be limited to what the addressees understood at the time they were revealed, and it was claimed that the verses were historical. Therefore, it has been argued that the verses are not universal. One of the verses evaluated in this context is the 7th verse of the chapter of al-A'raf. This article aims to evaluate the historical and universal aspects of this verse.

Kur’ân nazil olmaya başladığı zamandan itibaren Müslümanlar tarafından daha iyi anlaşılmaya çalışılmıştır. Hz. Peygamber zamanında sahabe Kur’ân’dan anlamadığı yerleri Hz. Peygamber’e soruyordu. Kur’ân’ı anlamak Hz. Peygamber’in vefatından itibaren sorun haline gelmeye başlamıştır. Meal ve tefsir çalışmaları kapsamında âyetleri anlamada nüzul dönemine bağlı kalınarak anlaşılması fikri gelişmiştir. Bu bağlamda âyetin nüzul dönemindeki anlamı yansıtmaya özen göstermek âyetin muradını daha iyi anlatacağı düşüncesi ön plana çıkmıştır. Buradan bir adım daha ileri gidilerek bazı âyetlerin indiği dönemdeki muhatapların anladığıyla sınırlı kalması gerektiği şeklinde gelişen düşüncelerle âyetlerin tarihsel olduğu iddia edilmeye başlanmıştır. Buna bağlı olarak âyetlerin evrensel olmadığı görüşü savunulmuştur. Bu bağlamda değerlendirilen âyetlerden biri de A‘raf sûresi 7. âyettir. Bu makalede bu âyetin tarihsel ve evrensel yönlerinin değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmaktadır.
