An Example of Lost Functional House Activities in Osmaneli (Bilecik): Pepper Dehydration Houses

Abstract

In some villages of Osmaneli town; growing pepper has been the main important agricultural industry for the local people. In a traditional maner, those of the growing pepper had been dried in dehydration houses and produced in that way. However, in recent years, the custom of drying methodologies has been totally changed and it has been dried on nylon cloth under the sun light. The reason of the alteration is that the dehydration houses had lost their functionalities and they are almost fallen apart. We therefore subjected to study the functional values of the studies in settlement geography as well as houses and house extentions. Those constructions are really important as they are part of traditional and economical structures of the area, which enlights the culture and geographical landscape.
