Çocuk Gelişimi Bölümü Lisans-Önlisans Öğrencilerinin Benlik Saygısı Düzeylerinin Bazı Değişkenler Açısından İncelenmesi

Abstract

Üniversite eğitimi süreci, akademik gelişimin yanı sıra hayata karşı duruş ve kişiliğin şekillendiği yıllardır. Kişiliğin önemli bir göstergesi ise benlik saygıdır. Benlik saygısı bireyin olmak istediği benliği ile hissettiği benliği arasındaki denge durumudur. Birey bu denge ya da dengesizlik durumu neticesinde benlik saygısı düzeyi ile ilgili bir sonuca varıp kendi benliğine karşı bir yargı oluşturur. Bu çalışma çocuk gelişimi öğrencilerinin benlik saygılarının çeşitli sosyo-demografik değişkenler açısından değerlendirilmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklem grubunu bir kamu üniversitesinde 2017-2018 yılında çocuk gelişimi bölümünde öğrenim gören toplam 213 öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Veri toplama aracı olarak ‘Kişisel Bilgi Formu’ ve ‘Rosenberg Benlik Saygısı Ölçeği’ kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizi bilgisayar ortamında frekans, t testi ve tek yönlü ANOVA analizleri kullanılarak yapılmıştır. Anlamlılık düzeyi 0.05 olarak alınmıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen sonuçlara göre katılımcıların %86’sının yüksek düzeyde, %14’ünün ise orta düzeyde benlik saygısına sahip olduğu belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca benlik saygısı öğrenim görülen bölüme isteyerek gelen öğrencilerin daha yüksek benlik saygısına sahip olduğu belirlenmiştir (p <0.05).

University education not only facilitates academic development of students but also contributes to shape their personalities and attitudes towards life. Self-esteem an important indicator of personality. Self-esteem is the state of balance between the self that the individual wants to be and the self that he feels. As a result of this balance or imbalance, the individual makes a conclusion about the level of self-esteem and forms a judgment against his/her self. This study was carried out to evaluate the self-esteem of students in the department of child development in terms of various socio-demographic variables. The sample group of the study consisted of 314 associate and bachelor degree students studying in the department of child development at Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University in 2017-2018. As data collection tools ‘Personal Information Form’ and ‘Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale’ were used. The data were analyzed by using frequency, t test and one-way ANOVA analysis. The significance level was taken as 0.05. According to the results of the study, 86% of the participants had high level of self-esteem and 14% of them had moderate self-esteem. In addition, self-esteem was found to have higher values for students who chose to study in their current department (p <0.05).
