Türkiye ekonomisinde finansal gelişmenin iktisadi büyümeye etkisi

Abstract

Ekonomik büyüme ülkelerin temel makroekonomik hedefleri arasında yer almaktadır. Ekonomik büyümenin sağlanmasında tasarrufların yatırımlara dönüştürülmesi önemlidir. Bu bağlamda finansal sistem tasarrufların yatırımlara dönüştürülmesinde aracılık sağlayarak ekonomik büyümeye katkı sağlamaktadır. İktisat litetarüründe finansal gelişme ile ekonomik büyüme arasındaki ilişkinin araştırıldığı çalışmalar yer almaktadır. Finansal gelişmişliğin ölçülmesinde kullanılan çeşitli endeksler bulunmakla birlikte bu çalışmada finansal gelişmişlik Uluslararası Para Fonu’ndan elde edilen endeks ile incelenmiştir. Buradan hareketle çalışmada Türkiye ekonomisinde finansal gelişme ile ekonomik büyüme arasındaki ilişki araştırılmıştır. Türkiye ekonomisine ait 1990-2020 periyodu için yıllık olarak ele alınan finansal gelişme ve ekonomik büyüme verileri ARDL sınır testi yöntemi ile analiz edilmiştir. Analiz sonuçlarına göre Türkiye ekonomisinde ilgili dönemde finansal gelişme ile ekonomik büyüme arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir ilişkinin olduğu ve finansal gelişmenin ekonomik büyümeyi pozitif yönde etkilediği tespit edilmiştir.

Economic growth is among the main macroeconomic goals of countries. It is important to convert savings into investments in ensuring economic growth. In this context, the financial system contributes to economic growth by providing an intermediary in the transformation of savings into investments. There are studies in the economics literature that investigate the relationship between financial development and economic growth. Although there are various indices used to measure financial development, in this study financial development was examined with the index obtained from the International Monetary Fund. Based on this, the study investigated the relationship between financial development and economic growth in the Turkish economy. Annual financial development and economic growth data of the Turkish economy for the period 1990-2020 were analyzed with the ARDL bounds test method. According to the results of the analysis, it was determined that there was a statistically significant relationship between financial development and economic growth in the relevant period in the Turkish economy and that financial development positively affected economic growth.
