Borsa İstanbul A.Ş.(BİST)' teki enerji şirketlerinin sürdürülebilir kalkınma hedefleri ile ilgili içerik analizi

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı, Borsa İstanbul A.Ş.’de (BİST) işlem gören 15 enerji şirketinin sürdürülebilir kalkınma hedefleri ile ilgili içerik analizinin yapılarak ortaya bir durum tespitinin konulmasıdır. Birleşmiş Milletler Sürdürülebilir Kalkınma Amaçları (SKA), üzerinde yaşamış olduğumuz ve bir önceki nesillerden tevarüs ettiğimiz dünyayı daha sürdürülebilir kılarak bir sonraki nesillere emanet etmek amacıyla ortaya çıkmış olan ve 17 hedeften müteşekkil hedefler kılavuzu olmakla birlikte; Birleşmiş Milletler üyesi ülkeler tarafından belirli zaman aralıkları dikkate alınarak özellikle 2030 yılı sonuna kadar ulaşılması amaçlanan bir evrensel eylem çağrısıdır. Bu 17 hedef, Birleşmiş Milletler Genel Kurulu tarafından Eylül 2015’te gerçekleştirilen Birleşmiş Milletler (BM) Sürdürülebilir Kalkınma Zirvesi'nde dünya liderlerinin üzerinde uzlaştıkları Sürdürülebilir Kalkınma için 2030 Gündemi (2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development), 193 ülkenin imzasıyla kabul edilmiştir. Söz konusu 17 hedef, dünya üzerinde açlık ve yoksulluğa son vermek, iklim değişikliği ile mücadele etmek, nitelikli eğitimi, temiz su ve sanitasyona erişim, sorumlu üretim ve tüketimi yaygınlaştırmak gibi sosyal, kültürel ve ekolojik konuların çözümüne odaklanır. Birleşmiş Milletler Sürdürülebilir Kalkınma Amaçları (SKA), resmi olarak 1 Ocak 2016 tarihinde yürürlüğe girmiştir. Söz konusu hedeflerin yerine getirilmesi ile birlikte daha sürdürülebilir bir dünya için önemli bir merhale aşılmış olacaktır. Bu eşiğin geçilmesinde enerji şirketlerinin yapmış olduğu işletme faaliyetlerini sosyal sorumluluk bilinciyle ifa etmesi, ülkemizin, bu 17 hedefe ulaşmasında ve her şeyden önce ülke olarak bu sosyal bilinci idrak etmemizde büyük pay sahibi olacakları aşikardır. Bu çalışma ile birlikte, BİST’ te işlem gören 15 enerji şirketinin Sürdürülebilir Kalkınma Hedeflerinden 7 nolu Erişilebilir ve Temiz Enerji hedefi ile ilgili ne tür faaliyetlerde bulundukları veya bulunup/bulunmadıklarının analizi yapılmıştır. İşbu çalışma yapılırken ilgili enerji şirketlerinin öncelikle 2023 yılı sürdürülebilirlik raporları/entegre faaliyet raporları/faaliyet raporları üzerinde incelemeler yapılmıştır. Eğer 2023 yılına ait söz konusu raporlara ulaşılmamış ise 2022 yılına ait Sürdürülebilirlik Raporları/Entegre Faaliyet Raporları/Faaliyet Raporları üzerinde incelemeler yapılmıştır. 2021 veya daha önceki yıllara ait entegre faaliyet raporları veya sürdürülebilirlik raporları ile ilgili herhangi bir değerlendirme yapılmamış olması çalışmanın kısıtıdır. İçerik analizi yapılırken şirketlerin 2023 veya 2022 yılına ait Sürdürülebilirlik Raporları/Entegre Faaliyet Raporları/Faaliyet Raporları referans alınmış olup; söz konusu Faaliyet Raporlarına şirketlerin internet sayfaları ve/veya Kamuyu Aydınlatma Platformu’na (KAP) ait internet sayfası üzerinden ulaşılmaya çalışılmıştır. Ayrıca, Faaliyet Raporlarının içerik analizi yapılırken Birleşmiş Milletler Sürdürülebilir Kalkınma Amaçları (SKA) ‘ni oluşturan 17 adet hedefin her birine ait sembollerden yola çıkılmıştır. Yani, söz konusu semboller işbu projeyi oluştururken yol gösterici olarak kullanılmıştır. Bununla birlikte, içerik analizi için referans alınan faaliyet raporlarına yukarıda belirtilen internet adreslerinden ulaşılamayan şirketler için veya faaliyet raporlarında söz konusu SKA’a yer verilmeyip, internet sayfalarında ‘bilgi’ olarak yer veren şirketler için bu çalışma kapsamında içerik analizi yapılmamıştır.The aim of this study is to make a content analysis of the sustainable development goals of 15 energy companies traded in Borsa Istanbul A.Ş. (BIST) and to determine a situation.. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a guide of 17 goals that have emerged with the aim of making the world we live on, which we have inherited from previous generations, more sustainable and entrusting it to the next generations; It is a universal call for action that is aimed to be achieved by the United Nations member countries, especially by the end of 2030, taking into account certain time intervals. These 17 goals were adopted by the United Nations General Assembly with the signature of 193 countries in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which was agreed upon by world leaders at the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Summit held in September 2015. These 17 goals focus on solving social, cultural and ecological issues such as ending hunger and poverty, combating climate change, promoting quality education, access to clean water and sanitation, responsible production and consumption. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) officially entered into force on 1 January 2016. With the fulfilment of these goals, an important milestone will be crossed for a more sustainable world. It is obvious that if energy companies carry out their business activities with social responsibility awareness, they will have a great share in our country's achievement of these 17 goals and, above all, in our realisation of this social awareness as a country. With this study, it has been analysed what kind of activities 15 energy companies traded on the BIST are engaged in or whether they are engaged in activities related to the Accessible and Clean Energy target numbered 7 of the Sustainable Development Goals. While conducting this study, firstly, the sustainability reports/integrated annual reports/operating reports of the relevant energy companies for 2023 were analysed. If the said reports for 2023 were not reached, the Sustainability Reports / Integrated Annual Reports / Annual Reports for 2022 were examined. The fact that 2021 or previous years' integrated annual reports or sustainability reports have not been evaluated is a limitation of the study. During the content analysis, the Sustainability Reports/Integrated Annual Reports/Activity Reports of the companies for 2023 or 2022 were taken as reference, and the said Annual Reports were tried to be accessed through the websites of the companies and/or the website of the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP). In other words, these symbols have been used as a guideline for this project. However, for companies whose annual reports, which were taken as reference for content analysis, could not be accessed from the internet addresses mentioned above, or for companies that do not include the SDGs in their annual reports but include them as 'information' on their web pages, no content analysis was conducted within the scope of this study.
