Özet
Climate change, triggered by the Industrial Revolution but progressed quite gradually at the beginning, has led to staggering results for humanity after the following 250 years in today's world. However, rapidly advancing industrialization, unfortunately, spoiled the flawless and renewable internal balance of nature. Therefore, habitats of all living creatures are now in danger of extinction due to the resulting damage triggered by climate change. This obvious threat fortunately sparked off new regulations regarding climate change, a series of international agreements as well as many institutional and individual attempts to curb climate change. To illustrate, ceramics artists from different parts of the world, who are sensitive to this threat, have contributed to these attempts by creating stunning works of art to draw people's attention and increase their awareness about the causes of climate change. This text aims to explain the developments leading to climate change, which is the most important problem of today's world although it is not taken seriously enough, as well as the negative changes triggered by industrialization, increasing amount of greenhouse gasses, human-induced natural disasters, the glaciers melting due to global warming, contaminated nature, carbon cycle spoiled due to the disappearing coral reefs, the industrial wastes that surround us and deforestation; i.e the damage that threatens natural life to extinction. The topic aims to draw people's attention to climate change through the works of ceramic artists who use different techniques and different materials with a critical mind in their works and try to persuade people to face the fierce reality.
