dc.description.abstractThin films produced by deposition of metal oxides on different surfaces show semi-conductor properties that are sensitive to the surrounding atmosphere components. The sol-gel dip coating technique, which is simple, accessible, adjustable, and repeatable based on desired parameters, is widely used in the production of CdO thin films. In this study, CdO metal oxide thin films were coated on polyamide, acrylic and cotton yarns by sol-gel dipping method in three different molarities of 0.1 M, 0.3 M and 0.5 M starting solutions. Structural properties of CdO thin film coated yarn samples were investigated using SEM and EDX analyzes were performed. The sensor tests of the yarn samples for LPG gas were carried out in the specially designed gas sensor measurement system and in the gas chamber. The 0.5 M CdO thin film coated cotton yarn samples showed better semiconductor properties and gas response than the other samples.
