Özet
People survive by learning and passing on their experiences from generation to generation. In this respect, through trial and error, they developed some inventions and equipment needed to sustain life. In order to be protected from climatic conditions, they developed the shelters they stayed in, starting from primitive living environments, allowing them to take their current form. The structures that individuals have built for their shelter needs from past to present, along with the development of technology and industry, lead to an increase in construction activities such as manufacturing methods, tunnels, durable buildings, bridges and roads. Apart from the use of materials and equipment produced with technological developments in construction activities, vocational courses and educational institutions have been opened to train individuals with knowledge and experience in managing the activities in a controlled manner. It is important for the building technicians trained in the construction department of high schools established for vocational and technical education to learn the job well and gain experience. In addition to the vocational training to be given, it is important to inform students about occupational accident cases in construction activities, both within the educational institution and in the working environment when they enter the profession, in order to raise awareness of their own safety, the safety of their colleagues and occupational health and safety. In this study, information was given about the risks and dangers that the staff and students working in the construction department of high schools may face and the precautions that can be taken. Systematic checks should be made in the construction section of the school included in the study. Attention should be paid to order, organization and cleanliness. The equipment, tools and hardware used should be checked before and after the applications and their periodic inspections should not be interrupted. Additionally, care should be taken to use personal protective equipment in applications. Students should be educated about the dangers in the department and at school so that they can gain awareness. Immediate action should be taken for deficiencies in the school and regular drills should be held for emergencies.
