Ortaöğretim Coğrafya (9-10-11-12) Ders Kitaplarında Çevre Bilinci Olgusu

Abstract

Öğrencilerin coğrafi düşünme yeteneği kazanması, çevreleri ile sağlıklı ilişiler kurabilmeleri için coğrafya öğretiminin önemi oldukça fazladır. Bu becerilerin öğrenciye aktarılmasında ders kitaplarında ele alınan coğrafya konularının düzeyi ve sunuş biçimi öğrencilerin derse aktif katılabilecekleri şeklinde düzenlenmelidir. Ders kitapları bir olgunun öğretiminde devletin, ilgili konuya yaklaşımını da göstermektedir. Günümüzde çevremizde şahit olduğumuz hava kirliliği, akarsu ve göl ekosistemlerindeki kirlenmeler, orman yangını, sel gibi çevre olgularının varlığı ortadayken, coğrafya öğretim programları ve ders kitaplarını incelemek doğru bir karar olacaktır. Yapılan çalışmada coğrafya öğretim programına göre hazırlanan ders kitaplarında, doğal çevre kavramının nasıl ele alındığını tespit etmek amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmada veriler, Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı Talim ve Terbiye Kurulu Başkanlığınca onaylanmış, lise düzeyindeki 9, 10, 11 ve 12. sınıf coğrafya ders kitaplarının doküman inceleme tekniğine uygun olarak incelenmesi sonucunda elde edilmiştir. Bu çalışma ile coğrafya ders kitaplarındaki çevre konularının kazanımlara uygunluğu noktasında yeterliliği değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonucunda, çevre bilinci olgusunun öğretimine ilişkin ders saatlerinin, coğrafya öğretim programının kazanım ve ders kitapları içerik boyutu için yetersiz olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Çevre bilincinin sağlanabilmesi için coğrafya öğretim programı ve ders kitabı içeriğine yönelik çözüm önerileri geliştirilmiştir.

Geography education is crucial for students to gain the ability to think geographically and to establish healthy relationships with their environment. In transferring these skills to the students, the level and presentation style of the geography topics covered in the textbooks should be arranged so that the students can actively participate in the lesson. Textbooks also show the approach of the state to the related subject in the teaching of a phenomenon. It would be the right decision to examine thoroughly geography curriculum and textbooks when environmental phenomena such as air pollution, pollution in river and lake ecosystems, forest fires and floods are so common today. In the study, it is aimed to investigate how the natural environment phenomenon is handled in the textbooks prepared by considering the geography curriculum. The data of the research were obtained as a result of scanning the 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade geography textbooks published in 2017 by the Ministry of National Education in Turkey, in accordance with the document analysis technique. With this study, the adequacy of the environmental issues in the geography textbooks was evaluated in terms of their suitability for the learning outcomes. Qualitative research method was used in the research. According to the results of the study, it has been discovered that the course hours related to the teaching of the environmental awareness phenomenon are insufficient for the learning outcomes of the geography curriculum and the content of the textbooks. In order to raise environmental awareness, solution suggestions have been developed for the content of the geography curriculum and textbook.
